39th anniversary of 31st Dec Revolution marked as John Mahama calls on party faithfuls to remain resolute

Flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama has asked party faithfuls to remain resolute and committed to the quest of the party to contest the results of the December elections.

This he said is to protect the unity and values of the NDC. He was speaking at the 39th Anniversary of the 31st December Revolution in  Accra.

On his part, the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the Commemoration of the 39th anniversary of the 31st December Revolution, Dr Benjamin Kumbuor said the outcome of this year’s’ election lacks all the transparency it deserves.

The former Defense Minister therefore appealed to ECOWAS and the AU to take a personal interest in the outcome of the December 7 elections.

He said with the successes chalked up under the 1992 constitution which was birthed after the 31st December revolution, the election could have been free and fair. Dr Kumbour urged supporters of the NDC to continue to uphold the values of the revolution.

Also speaking at the function, Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo insisted that the party performed creditably during the December elections. He said the just ended election was  one of the most difficult for the party and the performance of the MPs showed that the NDC won the 2020 general election.

Mr Ampofu reiterated  the party’s resolve to use every legitimate means to claim majority in parliament .

Dr Benjamin Kumbuor and his Vice Chairman Samuel Nuamah Donkor both lighted the perpetual flame to mark the anniversary.

The programme focused on Sustaining the Values of 31st December Revolution and the Legacy of late Former President Jerry John Rawlings.

This is the first time former President Rawlings is sadly missing from the event. His children were also not present at the ceremony.
