The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has written to Mr. Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen following a health walk organised in his name.

According to the party, the event held by some individuals claiming to be supporters of one of the party’s presidential hopefuls for the 2024 general elections breached the party’s code of conduct for presidential and parliamentary primaries.

A statement issued by the General Secretary of the NPP, Mr. Justin Frimpong Kodua, said: “Under the instruction of the Steering Committee, Mr. Alan Kyerematen has been written to in respect of the ‘Adru Wo so’ health walk that was organised in his name.”

The statement, signed on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, also described comments made by some organisers and speakers at the event as divisive.

“Comments made by some organisers of the Health Walk and other keynote speakers particularly, Mr Hopeson Adorye, a member of the NPP, also breached the party’s code of conduct and sought to divide the party front.”

It summoned Mr. Hopeson Adorye and one Hon. Ekow Vincent to appear before the National Complaints Committee of the party.

On August 13, the streets of Kumasi saw thousands of party faithful taking part in a health walk to send a message to Mr. Kyerematen that ‘Aduru Wo So’, to wit, it is your turn.

Mr. Kyerematen, who is still holding onto his ministerial position as Minister for Trade and Industry, himself has not officially declared his intention to contest the NPP Flagbeararship race.
