The Executive Secretary of CARITAS Ghana, a Catholic organisation, Samuel Zan Akologo, says legislation, policy framework and institutions alone do not fight corruption.

What is needed he said is concrete action in dealing with those who are engaged in corrupt acts.

Speaking on Radio Ghana’s Current Affairs programme, “Common Cause”, at Wa, Mr. Akologo said Ghana is one of the few African countries with a National Anti-corruption Plan and other institutions established to fight corruption.

He said though the creation of institutions such as EOCO, Special Prosecutors Office and Commission for Human Right and Administrative Justice, CHRAJ are laudable, concrete action needed to address corruption is weak.

Mr. Akologo who is also the Head of Department of Human Development of the National Catholic Secretariat said corruption goes beyond giving and receiving money or favours.

He said employees leaving their official assignment to do their private work during working hours also amount to corruption.
