The Electoral Commission has denied allegations that the multiple registration list was generated by its officials.

According to the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Jean Mensa, the multiple registration list is generated by systems put in place to flag double registration.

She explained that the more than 18,000 multiple registrations detected represent the frequency of double registration and not the number of persons involved in it. She was speaking at a Training for Journalists covering the election in Accra.

Mrs. Jean Mensa said the voters’ register for the 2016 General Election has more than 800,000 names on the multiple registration list.  She said although the  Commission is not required by law to publish the multiple registration list, it will go ahead and publish the list for the sake of transparency.
