Mr. Ken Ofori Atta, Ghana’s Finance Minister, says President Akufo-Addo does not have any intention to review or scrap the Free Senior High School, SHS Program.

“Let me say this, President Akufo-Addo has absolutely no intention to roll back on any of the major policies like the free SHS. We see education as the best enabler for sustainable growth to ensure transformation. We will do more to improve on it for it to better serve our children,” the Finance Minister noted on Thursday, March 24, 2022.

Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta was responding to critics of the New Patriotic Party’s Flagship Program Free SHS, whose criticisms have become loudest in the wake of financial difficulties in the country.

Some have called for the review of the Free SHS program to cater to only the poor and needy in society.

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo in 2017 launched the Free SHS policy in 2017 in his campaign promise.
