Government will fully implement the Recommendations of the Committee that investigated the clashes between some officers of the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Armed Forces in Tamale May last year.
The Interior and Defence Ministers, Ambrose Dery and Dominic Nitiwul, gave the assurance when a Senior State Attorney and Chairperson of the Committee Victoria Aseiduwaa, presented the Report to them.
They both pledged that the content of the 70-page report would be made public after it has been forwarded to the President.
In the afternoon of 16th May 2018, tension mounted between some personnel of the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Armed forces in Tamale, resulting in exchange of gunfire.
Consequently, Servicemen and civilians sustained varying degrees of injury.
The Committee was tasked to investigate similar clashes in the past five years, enumerate actions taken and lessons learnt.
Additionally, the Committee was to identify the effects of such clashes on Police/Military relationship and its effects on the communities.
Interior Minister Ambrose Dery commended the Committee for the good work done, adding that, the “Ghana beyond Aid” agenda would only be achieved when there is peace and security.
