The National Women’s Organiser of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Madam Hidaya S. Ibrahim, has stepped down from her capacity within the party and also announced her seizure as a card-bearing member with effect from February 20, 2024.

After serving the PNC in various capacities within the rank and file of the Party’s structure, the former Parliamentary Candidate for Wa East Constituency announced and submitted her resignation to the party to allow her to forge a new path that aligns with her vision.

In a statement, Madam Hidaya said her decision to resign comes after a thorough consultation and the personal progress she seeks to achieve in her political landscape. She expressed that her resignation will therefore afford her some opportunity to try new avenues that match up with her vision.

“Having joined and served the PNC in several capacities as a parliamentary candidate, Regional Executive and most recently, National Women’s Organiser, I believe very strongly that this is the perfect time for me to pursue other interests in tandem with my vision as a political and gender activist.”

She expressed gratitude to the party for giving her the opportunity to grow in the political field and also exposing her to the dynamics of the national politics of the country. She further promised to continue her Youth and Gender activism within society.

“It is never in doubt that the PNC offered me an opportunity to cut my political teeth as well as find a solid grounding in the national politics of our country, and I will forever be indebted,” she added.
