Judgement debt: Attorney General to appear before PAC

The Public Accounts Committee will on Thursday  invite the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Gloria Akuffo on what the office has done to retrieve the remaining GH¢47 million from Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome.

Mr Woyome has been ordered by the courts to pay back a GH¢51 million judgement debt he got from the state.

Controller and Accountant General Eugene Ofosuhene who appeared before the Public Accounts Committee said Mr Woyome has so far paid only GH¢4.6 million of the amount to the state.

Speaking to journalist after sitting Monday, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, James Klutse Avedzi said the House will work to ensure that the money is recovered for the state.

Meanwhile in an interview on an Accra Based  radio station, Attorney General Gloria Akuffo said her office is working to retrieve the remaining money.

She disclosed that government has found properties of businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome which can be used to defray the rest of the debt he owes the state.
