Nii Okai Laryea, one of the leading Parliamentary Aspirants for the Odododiodio Constituency in the Greater Accra on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress has outlined some of his major policies to turn the constituency around when given the opportunity to be a member of Parliament in 2025.

The Former MP, who is campaigning for a comeback, has released his agenda, divided into five thematic areas, in order to raise the standard of living of his people while pushing an agenda for growth and development for individuals and the area as a whole.

The five thematic areas are classified under the following headings: Resourcing the Party (NDC), Education i-Rise Fund, Health, Women & Youth Empowerment, and Common Fund and Other Funds.

Under Resourcing The Party, Nii Okai Laryea promises to create an internally generated fund to manage and support party activities within the constituency as well as identify other income-generating activities to make the party self-reliant.

He also promised to purchase eight (8) Benz buses for each ward, where proceeds will be used to manage the affairs of the individual wards, with an additional two (2) Benz buses for the constituency.

Educational Support (Irise Fund) will come in the form of a scholarship to support brilliant but needy students within the constituency with a seed capital of GHc100,000.00 with special allocation from the share of the MP‘s GETFund annually to feed the Fund.

According to him, a 15-member committee (made up of representatives from branches, wards constituencies) will manage the fund.

Nii Okai Laryea will set up the MP’s Health Fund to help constituents in dire need of assistance in paying medical bills. The fund will be managed by a 15-member committee with a seed capital of GHc50,000.00 and he made mention of “allocating MP’s NHIA share annually towards this fund when elected”.

Under Women and Youth Empowerment, the MP to be is promising vocational training in diverse fields for interested young men and women.

He also pledged to set up the Women’s Wing Revolving Fund while partnering with a financial institution to provide soft loans, which will serve as a revolving fund for women. He said, “will start with a seed capital of GHc100, 000.00.

On the Administration of Common Fund and Other Statutory Funds, Nii Laryea will “set up a fifteen (15) member committee comprising especially Assembly Members to make recommendations on the usage of the Common Fund to benefit the various communities”.

The Primary to elect the PC for the areas is slated for 31st October 2023, but it is on hold pending investigations into alleged vandalism during last week’s vetting.
