The National Peace Council is to meet with the leadership of all political parties over recent upsurge in intemperate language by political actors.

The Council said it is worried about the utterances of some political actors in recent times and hoped a meeting would reinforce the commitments made by the political parties towards peace ahead of the 2024 elections.

Chairman of the Peace Council, Reverend Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, said the Council had received a lot of footage about pronouncements by political actors. He said the statements were not good for the Country and urged politicians to be decorous in their utterances.

He asked political parties to understand that ‘Ghana is the only country we have’ and that there is the need for them to play within the space that has been created for each person or group.

Rev. Adu-Gyamfi urged the media to desist from over-highlighting intemperate language by political actors.

The Council said giving prominence to such statements could embolden the perpetrators and undermine the country’s hard-fought democracy and peaceful coexistence.
