Minority feels vindicated over abandonment of Presidential Jet

Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo.

The Minority says it stands vindicated that the decision by the President not to use the presidential jet, ‘Falcon 900’ for his foreign trips was borne out of his quest for luxury.

Minority spokesperson on Foreign Affairs and MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who asked an urgent question on the matter, said it is regrettable the Presidential jet ‘Falcon 900’ is in good condition and airworthy, yet the president chose to charter a luxurious commercial flight at fifteen thousand Pounds per hour in his recent trips to France and two other countries.

He said the response by the Defence Minister that the President cannot take a shower in the presidential jet goes to buttress the minority’s position.

He also downplayed the Minister’s response that the presidential jet cannot travel long distances without making stopovers for refueling.

Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa also dismissed the claim that the President does not use the presidential jet because it cannot take more passengers.

He said that argument is not tenable because the private jet the president uses takes only 17 passengers, while the presidential jet could take up to 15 passengers, meaning there is not much difference between the two in terms of passenger capacity.
