The Minority in Parliament has rejected the appointment of Mr. Tweneboah Kodua Fokuo, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Manso Nkwanta, as the new Managing Director for the National Investment Bank (NIB).

They argue that this appointment politicizes State-Owned Enterprises and erodes public trust in the government’s ability to manage national resources effectively.

Dr. Kwabena Donkor, the Ranking Member of the Committee on Employment, Social Welfare, and State-Owned Enterprises, emphasized the need for a skilled management team to revitalize the distressed NIB, stating that appointing a Parliamentary Candidate so close to an election is concerning.

The Minority calls on the government to reconsider the appointment, prioritize the integrity and sustainability of the NIB, and implement a transparent selection process based on merit and competence rather than political affiliation.

“We urge President Akufo Addo and Dr. Bawumia government to reconsider this appointment and prioritize the integrity and business sustainability of the National Investment Bank. The appointment of a Parliamentary candidate to a key banking position like this undermines public trust and confidence in the government’s ability to manage our national resources effectively.”
