Presidential candidate of the NDP, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings says the Party has the key to improving Ghana’s economy and transforming the lives of the ordinary Ghanaian. Mrs. Rawlings was speaking at the outdooring of Peter Tennyson Asamoah, as her Vice Presidential candidate for the 2020 elections.

She said the NDP is the only party that believes in decentralisation adding that the 1992 constitution is clear on that. The former first lady said when given the nod on December7 the party will work with the 1992 constitution to make the country develop better. Nana Konadu expressed confidence in her running mate and believes his partnership will move the party to victory.

The 2020 running mate for the NDP’s Presidential candidate Mr. Asamoah is a Supply Chain and Warehousing Expert, who worked as a Supply Chain Assistant at Nestle Ghana Limited from 2008 to 2009. His choice is expected to bring a vast experience in governance and development issues to the party.

Mr. Asamoah who hails from the Oti Region said he is humbled by his nomination to partner with the former first lady and pledged to team up with her to lead the party to victory come December 7. He said he will exert youthful exuberance on the party adding that the country is in dire need of the rich expertise of Mrs. Rawlings and together they will work to bring victory to the party.

Mrs. Rawlings in her address to party executives and faithful said the NDP is the proponent of vocational and skills training and has the blue print to make it work better. She spoke of the party’s development agenda and said given the meaning of her name, Konadu, she will fight to win the 2020 elections.

Mrs. Rawlings was acclaimed as flagbearer of the NDP at the Party’s third National Delegates Conference in Accra where she received an overwhelming endorsement. Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings charged members to work hard to secure parliamentary seats for the party in the upcoming polls.

The National Democratic Party is a political party founded in October 2012 by Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, wife of former President Jerry John Rawlings. She was formerly a high ranking member of the National Democratic Congress before breaking away.

In 2012, the Electoral Commission disqualified her and 11 other presidential candidates for failing to meet requirements before the September 30 deadline to file nomination documents. She contested again in 2016 on the ticket of the NDP. This makes it the second time she is gunning for the presidency.
