Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev Ernest Adu Gyamfi has called on the National Media Commission to ensure strict media ethics as the country inches towards the December election.

He said the Peace Council identified this because some media houses churn out false information.

Speaking at a forum organised by the Ministry for Parliamentary Affairs for Religious bodies and the National Media Commission, he said in other jurisdictions the minimum qualification to gain employment in the media is first degree.

However, in Ghana the situation is different. He said it appears anybody who is able to express him or herself well is engaged by a media institution which is very dangerous.

Chairman of the National Media Commission Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo said that just as there are bad nuts in religious circles, there is same in the media landscape. However, from next week the NMC will be engaging the media houses to see how best to sanitise the airwaves going into the December elections.
