Akwasi Owusu Afrifa-Mensa, the Member of Parliament for Amasaman Constituency in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region is said to be facing tough opposition from one business man called Yahya Kassim Atta alias KAS.

A visit to the constituency by this reporter during early hours of Wednesday, January 24th, 2024 has revealed that, the two candidates were busy meeting delegates in obscured places as some the constituency executives are sharply and covertly divided into two for and against.

Meanwhile, the incumbent MP is leaving no stone unturned by traversing all the polling stations over and over to secure a maximum vote in order to get his second chance on the party’s ticket for this year’s general election.

Again, posters and banners of individual candidates are hard to see as unconfirmed reports have it that the two aspirants have adopted a one-one- campaign approach.

In all a little over One Thousand Five Hundred delegates (I,500) drawn from 299 polling stations plus 17 Constituency Executives, Elders and Patrons are expected to congregate at the Amasaman School Park just opposite the Municipality office on 27th January, 2024 to elect one of the two Aspirants who are seeking to represent the Party come December 2024 for the Parliamentary elections.

In an interview, the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party at the Amasaman, Michael Ofori Asante said all is set for the election and that they are ready to assist the electoral commission to conduct a free, fair and transparent election on Saturday.

According to him, “the election will be conducted by the EC”, as he also confirmed that security of the people and poll will surely be in the hands of the Ghana police.
