Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta has acknowledged the current hardship encountered by Ghanaians and rendered an apology before he began his response to the charges leveled against him leading to his Censure.

He added that ‘it was the first time in the history of Parliamentary affairs that a Minister has been censured’, noting that the current economic hardship was not due to his alleged economic mismanagement, but, external factors contributed to the current status of the economy.

Mr. Ofori Atta debunked the five charges leveled against him leading to his Censure by the Minority, stating that he has very well managed the economy since the NPP government gained power in 2017 and clarified that some reports tended into the Committee as fact were woefully inaccurate.

”We have mobilized all efforts to enhance the lives of Ghanaians through funds approved by parliament since we came to power’ however, since the onset of the pandemic, things did turn around and hinted that government will include supportive measures in the 2023 fiscal budget to make things easier in the country,” according to Mr. Ofori-Atta.
