This session of Parliament has been one of the toughest for the Legislature, working amidst the coronavirus pandemic. It is believed to be one of the longest sittings in Parliamentary history.

Complementary education agency bill, 2019, registration of Birth and Death bill 2020, security and intelligence agencies bill, 2020, development finance bill 2020, mid-year budget review, loan facility to finance the Paa Grant Interchange, roads in Sekondi and Takoradi township, construction of sections of the Western railway line, and tax waivers were some of the works executed in the last sitting.

While commending Members for their selflessness, the minority leader, Mr. Haruna Iddrisu’s concern was the country’s rising debt stock.

Majority leader, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, urged Members to continue to keep safe.

For the Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye, the motion to enact a Private Members Bill was the greatest achievement for the House.

Meanwhile, a pension scheme and insurance package for Members of Parliament is in the offing.

This has become necessary with increasing reports of bad living conditions after MP’s service to the Nation.

Speaker, Prof. Mike Oquaye, stated this, at the end of the Second Meeting, of the Fourth Session, of the Seventh Parliament.

The House has since adjourned sine die.
