Police to deal ruthlessly with miscreants at Aggrieved Public Sector Workers Demo

The Accra Regional Police Command has indicated that it is ready to ensure the safety of the people and property during the “Aggrieved Public Sector Workers Demonstration” scheduled for Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

In a statement, signed by the Accra Regional Director of Public Affairs, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Juliana Obeng, the police said it has outlined adequate security measures ahead of the exercise.

“Following discussions with the conveners of the demonstration, it has been agreed that the demonstration will commence from the Obra Spot through Kwame Nkrumah Avenue -towards Farisco Traffic Light to Cedi House – through – AU Roundabout and end at the Independence Square.’’

The statement said, “the Police will secure the routes earmarked for the event and take the necessary steps to ensure the security and safety of all demonstrators.’’

It, however, said people residing in the areas marked for the exercise are entreated to cooperate with the police to ensure a successful event.

It said, “infiltrators who may want to take undue advantage of the demonstration to foment trouble are cautioned to desist from any such attempts since the Police will not hesitate to take the necessary action to stop such acts.’’

Organizers and demonstrators participating in the demonstration are also entreated to adhere to all COVID-19 protocols and cooperate with the Police to ensure a successful event.
