South Africa’s President, Cyril Ramaphosa arrives in Accra for State Visit

South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in Accra on a three-day state visit.

The visit is to reinforce South Africa’s bilateral relations with Ghana and to strengthen partnerships directed at African development and cooperation in multilateral forums.

He was met on arrival by Ghana’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

 While in the country on his three-day visit, the South African Leader and his delegation will explore ways to leverage the opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area for mutual benefit and with greater support for businesses conducting intra-African trade and investment.

The visit will culminate in an inaugural session of the Bi-National Commission. Relations between South Africa and Ghana have grown significantly over the years.

Underlining these strong relations is the elevation of structured bilateral relations from a Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation to a Bi-National Commission, to be chaired by two the Heads of State. 

President Ramaphosa, is accompanied by a 200-man delegation of Ministers and business leaders in view of growing economic relations between Accra and Pretoria.
