Immediate past Agriculture Minister for Ghana and Flagbearer hopeful for the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has positioned students as the custodians and owners of the country’s future.
He made this statement during his future for the economy of Ghana public lecture, which was held at the University of Professional Studies-Accra on March 13, 2023.
The former Agriculture Minister said the future of the country Ghana depends on students in the country.
According to him, the university is a citadel of ideas that generates innovations for sustainable development. He added that universities provide not only educated workers or job seekers but also knowledge workers who are able to create jobs in society.
He further mentioned that the country’s ability to meet its greatest challenges depends on the academic pursuits of students now.
He, therefore, advised that students develop their talents, skills and intellect so as to help older people solve the nation’s greatest problems.
Dr. Afriyie shared the optimism he has in the strength of agriculture bearing the potency of lifting the country from its economic woes and not only provide us with the necessary nutrients.
He mentioned that agriculture can provide the necessary resources to help sustain the other sectors of the country’s economy.
