Tee Tain District Chief Executive in the Bono Region, Dr Lucy Acheampong, has asked the people, particularly the youth who have attained the voting age, to take advantage of the new voter registration to get their names in the voter register. This, she noted, will enable them to exercise their franchise in the upcoming general election.

Dr Acheampong said this in a message presented by Atomfourso Electoral Area Coordinator Nelson Owusu Frimpong at a durbar to climax this year’s Akyiriwia festival of the Chiefs and people of Atomfourso near Seikwa.

The annual festival was used to discuss achievements and challenges and to map out strategies to address the concerns.

The festival was also to give thanks to the forefathers for helping to maintain peace and stability.

Among the challenges the people are faced with is the delay in the construction of a CHIPS compound, which started nine years ago, a modern place of convenience being constructed and financed by the Middle Belt Development Authority, GIFEC rural telephonic project, as well as poor education and road infrastructure.

The forum was worried about delay in executing development projects, extension of power to cover newly developed areas of the community, lack of layout, and lack of enrollment in the newly established skills training centre under Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET). The Chief of the town, Nana Ekye Adjei, appealed to the people to bury their differences and rally behind the Chiefs to impress upon authorities to complete the ongoing stalled projects.

He also appealed to the government through the Tain District Chief Executive to resume work on the stalled projects, some of which are about 90 percent complete.

Nana Ekye Adjei expressed his appreciation to the DCE for providing the community with street light bulbs to help fight crime, especially at night.

The DCE, who was represented by the Electoral Area Coordinator, Nelson Owusu Frimpong, asked the people to remain united and forge ahead to develop the community, which is predominantly cashew farmers.
