Prof.  Alabi takes campaign to Upper East Region

A flag bearer hopeful of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, Prof. Joshua Alabi, has assured NDC faithful in the Upper East Region that the grass roots of the party will not be neglected under his watch as leader.

They were glad that Prof. Alabi’s message touched on their immediate and long-standing concerns. Prof. Josshua Alabi made the revelation at a meeting with constituency and branch executives of Bolgatanga East, Bawku West, among other constituencies in the region. The delegates were excited about Prof. Alabi’s message of putting the grass roots at the center of his government and giving power back to them.

Speaking to delegates of the NDC in Bolgatanga East Constituency, Prof. Alabi described his tour in the region as a homecoming because he grew up in Tamale and later became the Northern Regional Minister.

The former Vice Chancellor of University of Professional Studies said he is the best candidate who can lead the NDC to wrestle power from the NPP in the 2020 elections.

Currently on a tour of the Upper East Region, Prof. Alabi pledged his outfit’s readiness to give power back to the grassroots through adequate consultations and the creation of opportunities to benefit every hardworking branch executive.

Prof. Alabi who was the campaign manager for late President Prof. John Evans Atta Mills said any leader who is seeking their mandate to serve, must know and understand their circumstances.

He said the only way the would be leader will appreciate their conditions and serve them better is when he or she meets to interact, dialogue and negotiate with them at their level. Prof. Alabi said when given the nod to lead the party as a flag bearer and subsequently become the president of the country, he will ensure that they raise funds for each of the 275 constituencies across the country to enable them manage the branches.

He said his government policies will emanate from the aspirations and needs of the grassroots and implementation will be done through the same process.

This, he noted, will give true meaning to social democracy which defines us as a country. He said his president will focus on Agribusiness, Trade and Industry and Science and Technology. Prof. Alabi said agriculture is business and the entire chain has immense potentials to transform the lives on many Ghanaians.

He said as president, he will invest in the commercialization of agriculture through the provision of tractors, wellington boots, fertilizers among others and set up agricultural service centers to assist farmers have the right variety of seedlings, efficient land usage and boosting production.

He said his outfit will make regional ministers, cabinet ministers, with direct responsibilities for the growth of all production sectors within their regions.

The former executive member of the Ghana Football Association, GFA, and the former manager of the Black Stars said his government will create a revolving fund for sports to take care of the payment of footballers in the premier league and division one clubs.

He said the fund is to be supported by a percentage of the salaries and signing-on fees collected by the footballers when they secure contracts abroad.

Prof. Alabi said the proceeds from the fund will also take care of other sporting disciplines in the country.
