The Acting General Secretary of the Public Service Workers Union, (PSWU), Bernard Adjei has raised concerns about the feasibility of implementing the new pension scheme in January next year as planned.
He says although the new scheme has been well crated, its implementation set for January 2020 will come too soon.
Mr. Adjei was speaking at the Greater Accra Regional Council Conference of the Public Service Workers Union in Accra.
The Grater Accra Regional Conference, of the Union was described by members as unique because it is the last of all the annual Regional Conferences of the PSWU.
The members were in festive mood as they chanted slogans in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Union.
The Acting General Secretary of the Union, Bernard Adjei said more stakeholders consultations will be required to determine if government should go ahead with the implementation of the new pension scheme in January 2020.
He bemaoned the situation where employees on contract are gradually outnumbering the permanent staff in public services.
According to Mr. Adjei, the situation where members do not see themselves as part of the union and is problematic.
He said, Union Executives, whose members often see as the embodiment of the Union are only representatives elected to serve members.
He called on union members to develope a sense of belonging to their unions in order to foster development.
Awards were given to members who have been outstanding in their various organisations.
