Stakeholders in broadcasting agree to collaborate in DTT project

Stakeholders in the broadcasting sector have agreed to collaborate in the Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) project.

The decision, announced by the Minister for Information-desgnate, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, following a close door meeting between the Ministry of Communication and the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA) in Accra.

GIBA and the Ministry had been at variance over the issue due to the Ministry’s decision to give the DTT control to a private entity known as the Central Digital Transmission Company (CDTC) Limited.

The stakeholders at the meeting were Communication Ministry, Information Ministry, Finance Ministry, National Media Commission, (NMC), The National Communications Authority, (NCA), Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, (GBC) and Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, (GIBA).

The rest are Film Producers Association of Ghana, Ghana academy of film and television arts, Ghana actors guild, National Film and Television Institute, (NAFTI), K-Net limited, ILC Consultant and Ghana institute of engineering.

The next meeting of these stakeholders is scheduled to take place within four (4) weeks.
