Following the on-going strike by members of the Technical Universities Teachers Association of Ghana, (TUTAG), the Takoradi Technical University, (TTU) in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis of the Western Region is currently deserted.

This has also affected business activities of Newsite an area where the main campus is situated and Butumagebu where the new campus is sited.

A handful of students who were sited hanging around mentioned that they did not want to travel back home not knowing when the strike will be called off.

The Western Regional Secretary of the Technical Universities Teachers Association of Ghana, TUTAG, Frederick Boakye Yiadom told Radio Ghana in Sekondi that they will follow to the latter, all directives from it leadership to ensure that the grievances are addressed.

He mentioned that government is ready to meet them but until their demands are met, the strike will continue.

The group last Tuesday, October 7, 2019, declared a sit-down strike over poor condition of service following the conversion of Polytechnics to Technical Universities.
