Nigeria’s sprint sensation Tobi Amusan has been cleared by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) and is therefore free to participate in the World Athletics Championship in Budapest.

It will be recalled that the AIU charged Ms Amusan with an alleged rule violation for having missed three tests in 12 months.

In a post on her Facebook page, the 2022 World Athletics 100m gold medalist vowed to fight the charges against her and have her case decided by a tribunal of three arbitrators before the championship begins.

However, Tobi Amusan has been found not guilty of all the charges brought against her by the AIU. The sprinter has since updated her location to Budapest in a recent post on her social media to indicate she will be on tracks for Nigeria.

Amusan is the first ever Nigerian world champion and world record holder in an athletics event. She made this record in 2022, when she won the 100 m hurdles gold. While setting the current world record of 12.12 seconds (+0.9m/s) in the semi-final, followed up by 12.06 seconds (+2.5m/s) in the final.
