As Tunisians await the declaration of the election results following the death of President Beji Caid Essebsi his wife Mrs Chadlia Caid Essebsi has also died.

Mrs Essebsi died yesterday at the age of 83.

The late Mrs Caid Essebsi, in July welcomed many heads of state to pay respect to her husband, who died at the age of 92, having been the first democratically elected President in Tunisia.

The couple had four children including Hafedh Caïd Essebsi, who retained control of the party formed by his father.
