The Upper West Region is expected to receive 2 more ambulances to add to its fleet of 12 ambulances distributed across the region. This would bring to 14 the total number of ambulances in the region.

One of the ambulances is expected to be stationed at the UDS hospital in Wa while the other would be stationed at Bulenga in the Wa East District.

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih said this when he presented an ambulance to the Ghana Airport Company (GAC) at Wa in the Upper West Region.

Dr Bin Salih said after the initial allocation of the 11 ambulances to the 11 Constituencies in the region, he made an appeal for additional ambulances to supplement other areas of the region.

Presenting the ambulance to the Upper West Regional Manager of the GAC, the Minister, Dr Bin Salih entreated the staff of the airport to be committed to ensuring proper care and maintenance of the ambulance. He said although the ambulance has been allocated to the facility, the ambulance could be called to serve the region in other areas when there are no flights at the airport.

The minister encouraged the Ghana Airport Company to build a suitable bay for the ambulance. In the meantime, the ambulance would be stationed at the Regional Office of the Ambulance Service.

The Upper West Regional Manager of the GAC, Mohammed Saani Alhassan, thanked the Minister for the gesture. He said the presentation of the ambulance is timely as ambulances form an integral part of the work of any airport.  He pledged to ensure that the ambulance is put to good use.
