February 14 marks Valentine’s Day also known as National Chocolate Day in Ghana.

GBCGHANAONLINE hits the streets to interview a section of the public on the significance of Valentine’s Day. In their submissions, they stated Valentine’s Day is a special day set aside to celebrate their loved ones, exchange gifts, go on dinner dates and people are seen clad in red and white clothes.

The day began as a Western Christian feast day honoring one or two early saints named Valentinus and is recognized as a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world.

The Feast of Saint Valentine was established by Pope Gelasius I in AD 496 to be celebrated on February 14 in honour of Saint Valentine of Rome, who died on that date in AD 269.
