The 13th African Games will be coming to Accra, Ghana, for the first time on March 8th–23rd, 2024, in what will be the grand opening ceremonies as it is the first time the nation is hosting it.

The event will take centre stage at the Borteyman Sports Complex and the Legon Athletics Oval in Accra.

Following the gradual preparation for the big event, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, paid a courtesy visit to the Ghana athletes team in Cape Coast to motivate them ahead of the big African Games coming to Ghana for the first time.

On his visit, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, outlined that much has been invested in the promotion of this big event coming to Ghana for the first time. He added that the government has put every measure in place to ensure they support all the athletes during the games.

Hon. Mustapha Ussif called on all Ghanaians to rally their support for the athletes who will be participating in this historic event and also urged all corporate Ghana to come on board and support the games by reaching out to the local organising committee.

“I am here to visit the athletes on behalf of the President and all Ghanaians to encourage them to train harder so that when the time comes, they will deliver for Ghana,” Hon. Mustapha Ussif mentioned.

Over 500 athletes from various sporting disciplines like table tennis, tennis, football, rugby, athletics, and cycling, among others, will be representing Ghana in the African Games.

Ghana, for the first time, will welcome over 3500 vibrant athletes from 54 countries to the 13th African Games in Accra on March 8, 2024.
