Former skipper of the senior national football team, the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan, has called on all celebrities to extend a helping hand to the less privileged in the wake of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

According to him, this will help government’s efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana.

In a video on Twitter, Asamoah Gyan, said: “As an icon, people look up to me. This is the time. I urge all the celebrities, all those who are fortunate, all those who want to give back to the community, let’s give back to the community because this is the time people need us.”

“People need our support; let’s do this to help the government because the government cannot do this alone. We cannot depend on the government, this is our lives. We’ve to protect one another,” he said on Tuesday, March 24, 2020.

He also urged Ghanaians not to be scared but rather stay home and observe preventive measures.

“As we are home, nobody should be scared. It’s getting serious but nobody should be scared. Fear and panic can also cause damage.”

“We are strong; let’s stay strong; let’s fight this coronavirus together,” he added.

Ghana recorded 15 more cases of coronavirus, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 68 including 2 deaths as at March 25, 2020, 09:00 a.m.
