By: Tilda Acorlor

The Chairman of the Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA), Daniel Agbogah says it would be a “strange thing” to see subsequent qualifiers of the National Division One League (DOL) from the Volta Region turn their back on the Regional FA.

Speaking ahead of the Volta Regional Division Two Middle League, he explained, that the success and failure of a qualified team who represents the region will affect the region.

“When Akatsi qualified from day one we got involved collectively everyone got involved, the needed advice we could give, we gave, we all played a role, if any team qualifies again and feels there us the need for the Regional FA to play a role, Why not?”

“I believe that we are in for development, we are in for a change, we are in to rewrite our history and I believe that it’s a message sounded to everyone”

“If there is anybody who should not understand this message at all it should be Akatsi All Stars because they are the first people, we got involved and we have survived”

“It will be a strange thing to see subsequent qualifiers who would turn their back at the RFA, when team qualify their success and failure affects the Regional FA. That is how come we will not leave any stone unturned” Mr. Agbogah said.

Don't turn your back on us - Volta FA Chairman, Daniel Agbogah to Division Two teamsMr. Agbogah disclosed this at the final match between two regional compatriots, Akatsi All Stars and Kpando Hearts of Lions which ended 1-0 in favor of Akatsi All Stars at the WAFA Park to complete the 2021/22 DOL season.

The Dynamo FC Boss commended the management, playing body, fans, and entire Akatsi community for supporting and playing a pivotal role in sustaining Akatsi All Stars FC in the League.

“I thank God and congratulate the team, the honorable MP, Benard Ahiafor, the chairman, the entire management and playing body, because they were not proud bit were ready to listen,” he said.

“And also the entire Akatsi Community for not giving up when the team was facing relegation, the community never gave up because they saw hope “ he added.

This is the first time in about eight seasons that a newly promoted team from the Volta region is remaining in the league, an accomplishment the FA chairman describes as a “humbling moment”.

“This moment even humbles me the more, it is a moment to learn,” Mr. Agbogah said.

In 2018, when the Daniel Agbogah-led administration who qualified Akatsi All Stars for the 2020/21 Regional League season took office, their mantra was “it’s a new dawn and a new era for the development of football in the Volta Region.”

Akatsi All Stars has survived the League and Mr. Agbogah admits “it was a collective effort”.

“If it is something to say, then I must say that it is confirmation of what I said at the time, it was a collective effort and it is that same collective effort I foresaw that’s why I said it’s a new dawn for Volta football” he added.

The Volta Regional Middle League is slated for Monday, 27 June 2022, eight teams from 8 Zones have already booked their place for a weeklong football event where one team would represent the region in next season’s DOL.
