Dreams Football Club, winners of Ghana’s MTN FA Cup, faced a challenging debut in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup, suffering a defeat to Club Africain.

In Tunisia on the first matchday of the tournament, the Dawu-based side conceded two goals in the first half.

The hosts made an early breakthrough, with Tayeb Meziani scoring after just five minutes, showcasing their skill against Dreams’ defense. Fourteen minutes later, Kingsley Eduwo extended Club Africain’s lead with a shot from outside the penalty box.

The Tunisian side Club African nearly made it 3 in the 20th minute with a well-timed pass from Chiheb Labidi to Kingsley Eduwo, but he blasted over the bar.

Dreams FC captain Abdul Jalilu received a yellow card on the 40th-minute mark before halftime. The second half brought more difficulties for Dreams as Jalilu received a second booking, resulting in an early departure and leaving Dreams with 10 men on the field.

The home team came close, threatening the Ghanaian base side with a clear chance to make it 3-0, but the Tunisian side was denied by goalkeeper Solomon Agbesi.

Despite the numerical advantage, Club Africain couldn’t add to their two-goal lead from the first half, concluding the game with a 2-0 scoreline after 90 minutes.
