Former goalkeeper of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Fatawu Dauda has urged all stakeholders to allow the Ghana Football Association to choose the next Black Stars coach.

Ghana has been without a coach following the sacking of Milovan Rajevac in the wake of disastrous 2021 AFCON campaign in Cameroon.

The Black Stars only managed just a point to exit the tournament at the group stage after succumbing to a 2-3 defeat to debutants Comoros.

With the 2022 world cup qualifier against Nigeria in sight, Ghana is on search for a new head coach with Otto Addo and Chris Hughton leading the race.

It is believed that the government is favouring the appointment of Chris Hughton whereas the football association wants to hire Otto Addo.

According to former Enyimba FC goalkeeper who has also played 26 times for the Black Stars, the country’s football governing body should be allowed to decide on who becomes the next Black Stars coach.

“When it comes to coaching, every coach with the license deserves the chance. We have a committee in place to decide who should coach the national team”.

“Coaches are hired and fired, and although he doesn’t know much about the coach, he’s seen the clubs he’s managed and like he said there’s a committee. Internationally, and locally, we have coaches who have the certificate, so it’s up to the GFA to decide based on their criteria”.

“If there’s a problem with the playing body and you keep changing coaches then the problem would still be there. If there’s a problem with the technical team and not with the playing body and you solve it, then fine”.

“He knows they’re to submit a report to the GFA on what went wrong, and they would know better. In all departments there shouldn’t be a problem, so the best people to choose the coach are the GFA or their technical committee”.
