''Saving Our Passion'': Journalists agree Football is pure Business

GTV SPORTS+‘ program “Savingourpassion, continues this week with the appearance of some media sports gurus including, veteran sports journalists, Ken Bediako. The problem which started on February 10, last week seeks to help deliberate on the way forward in Ghanaian sports, especially football which is gradually dwindling.

Following the Black Stars painful defeat to the Comoros Islands and eventual exit from the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, many Ghanaians are disappointed. Veteran sports journalist, Ken Bediako who has followed and written sports stories for a long time will bring his expertise to bear to help find solutions to the problems of the national team and sports in general in the midst of anger, frustrations, and disappointment of Ghanaians.

Mr Bediako started as a trainee sports writer at the Daily Graphic in 1961 under the tutelage of veterans like Kodzo Dumoga, Isaac Eshun, Martin Therson Cofie and Addo Twum rising to become Sports Editor in 1972.

He has covered numerous international sporting events both at home and abroad AFCON 63 at home Sudan 1970 and Libya 82. Two Olympic Games Munich 1972 Montreal 1976 and two other Olympics Seoul 88 and Barcelona 92 as press attaché. He was a member of Black Stars Management committee 1991-93, DK Poisons World title fight in Los Angeles 1975, Ex officio Asante Kotoko management that won Africa Cup in 1983.

He has been in sports journalism since 1961.
He has a fair knowledge of Ghana sports and football in particular that enabled him to write the complete history of The National League (1958-2012) published in 2013.
