Dutch-born Ghanaian right back, Jeremie Frimpong has opened up on the Ghana Football Association(GFA) approaching him to represent the Black Stars of Ghana but he respectfully declined the offer.
The 22-year-old has always wanted to play in the orange colours of the Netherlands although he had big opportunities to represent both England and Ghana.
Jeremie Frimpong this year got the opportunity to make some appearances for the Dutch senior side in their Euros qualification, which saw made his debut against France in October 2023. His recent appearance for the Dutch national team keeps the Ghana national team far away from getting him to play for the Black Stars.
“The coach called me, I had a conversation with him but my mind was already made up”; said Jeremie Frimpong.
Jeremie Frimpong’s chase to represent the Black Stars doesn’t ride on mere popularity but talent. The right-back has been instrumental in Bayer Leverkusen’s form this season contributing to 13 goals across all competitions for the German club.
