Ghana’s winger, Joseph Painstil has apologized to Ghanaians following the Black Star’s abysmal performance at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

Ghana exited the tournament with 2 points having drawn 2-2 against Egypt and Mozambique and lost 1-2 to Cape Verde in the opening game in Group B.

Painstil’s impact in Ghana’s game has been incredible, in Ghana’s last game the KRC Genk star won a penalty which was converted by Jordan Ayew to give Ghana the lead against Mozambique before he was substituted for captain Dede Ayew after the first half.

He took to X to express his sincere apology and was thankful to Ghanaians for their unflinching support.

“Sincere apologies to the good people of Ghana. We are truly sorry for not meeting your expectations. Important lessons to take away from this unforgettable experience.”

“Thank you for coming through with your support in our low moments,” he said.

This is the second time Ghana has exited from the group stages in the AFCON.
