African Games 2023: Laboma Resort set to host thrilling beach soccer and volleyball games

The 13th African Games, which will be held in Ghana from March 8–23, have different venues for different games.

One of the venues is Laboma Beach Resort. Laboma Beach Resort will be hosting beach soccer and volleyball. This venue boasts breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, white sandy beaches, a serene ambiance, and a cool breeze that will leave one feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

As Ghana has progressively adapted to beach soccer, it is good for such games to be played at the beach.

In an interview with the General Manager of Laboma Beach Resort, Albert Tetteh Botchway, he explained that the management team of the beach is fully aware of the games because the Olympic committee has been to the place several times to check the structures, the kind of services rendered, and also look at the sand as well as the exact place the games will be played.

Also, he stated, “Laboma Beach Resort is the cleanest beach at the moment in Africa. Our shores are clean, and that is why they chose the place to have beach soccer and volleyball.”

According to him, Laboma has a larger beachfront as it is not occupied by vendors or structures. It also has a very large space, which can host thousands of people.

“You are able to get everything you want here in Laboma because this place is like a city. We have other places in Laboma, like Alora, Beach Afrique, Shrine, and Trouphies. Also, we have accommodations where you can spend weeks, months, or even a year doing your work,” he added.

Addressing safety, Albert Botchway mentioned that Laboma is the safest beach to be because the security system is very tight and high, with military, police, and other private security personnel patrolling the place 24/7 to ensure the safety of the people as well as the place.

In terms of their preparedness, he said that they are fully prepared, as they have done the necessary background checks on the games.

“We know the set of people who are going to patronize, the dignitaries coming, and we have adequately prepared to host all these people.”

Touching on their expectations, he mentioned that, since it is an African game, they expect the La community and other communities in Accra to come and support the activities.

“Once we get more people to support, the players and other people will feel that Ghana is really supporting the games,” he added.
