Medeama SC were held at home in their CAF Champions League campaign to a 1-1 draw against Yanga in their third group game of the tournament.

The defending Ghana Premier League champions went ahead in the 26th minute when Jonathan Sowah scored from the spot. After the Yellow and Mauve boys took the lead, they believed going for the ultimate was likely.

Medeama’s charge to victory was finally dimmed when their defence was breached by a vibrant Yanga side that needed to scope something out of the game. Their perseverance got them back into the game in the 36th when Peodoh Pacome Zouzoua got the ball in the back of the net.

It has been a true baptism of fire experience for Medeama SC on the grandest stage of African football after going through their first three games, losing one, winning one, and drawing one. That’s arguably a decent start for a debutant.

Evans Adotey and his boys will switch their focus to their next group game against the same opponent (the Young Africans of Tanzania) on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, in Benjamin Mkapa, the capital of Tanzania.
