The second leg encounter of the FIFA World Cup play offs between Nigeria and Ghana, takes place today, 29 March 2022, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, Nigeria. It will be a great showpiece of football by the two countries. Otherwise known as the ”Jollof Derby”, the Kumasi Sports Stadium was brought alive last Friday, during the first leg World Cup qualifier match between Ghana and its football rival Nigeria.  The encounter was the ninth time both teams have met in a World Cup qualifier.  The match which ended in a goalless draw attracted thousands of supporters to the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi.

Despite dominating the game, the Black Stars failed to take their chances, a situation which got supporters talking demanding the players demonstrate more commitment to the game and eschew all forms of selfishness during play.

With the sterling performance of both teams, especially the Black Stars in the first leg encounter in Kumasi, Head Coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo is not perturbed.  For him the Stars played, but a little fatigue brought the Eagles into the game which can be easily corrected.

Nigerian Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen, equally believes in the ability of the Super Eagles and maintains his team will beat the Black Stars to qualify.

The love and support given to the Black Stars in the first leg encounter in Kumasi was massive. Unfortunately, the Stars failed to make use of the home advantage it had over its Nigerian opponents.  With hours to kick off, some Ghanaians have encouraged the Black Stars to go all out to win the match. It ‘a make or break for both countries.  Who gets the bragging rights of eliminating the other from the World Cup, Ghana or Nigeria? Only 90 minutes of great football can tell.
