Ghana coach Otto Addo has commended the performance of goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi in the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The St. Gallen shot-stopper was impressive in the Black Stars’ 3-2 win over South Korea in the second group game on Monday.

The 26-year-old manned the post with breathtaking saves to maintain Ghana’s win and brighten the chances of progressing to the next phase of the tournament.

“I think it’s been a great tournament up to this point for him; he really did well, especially in the last game, he had some great saves.”

“We knew before that the goalkeepers we have are almost all on the same level, so it was very sad when we got the news that Joseph Wollacott and Richard Ofori were not able to come due to injuries.”

“But on the other hand, we were surely confident that we have other goalkeepers like Ati Zigi, Manaf Nurudeen, and also Danlad Ibrahim who are really doing well in training and Zigi obviously playing very well,” Otto Addo added.

Ati joined the Black Stars in 2018 and hasn’t looked back after making 12 appearances for the national team.
