Water is wet, the grass is green. Senegal have qualified for the semi-finals of another tournament organised by the Confederation of African Football. The Teranga cabs won 1-0 against the Cheetas of Benin to fly into the next round of the competition.
Coach Malick Daf’s side recorded a 100 percent record in Group A with 9 points and 8 goals in the same group as host Egypt, Nigeria, and Mozambique before Dynamo Kiev winger Samba Diallo’s goal aided the team to the semi-finals.
The high-flying Teranga cabs played a highly competitive game with Benin. The two sides failed to record a shot on target in the first half.
In true captain style, Samba Diallo exhibited so much leadership and quality, which resulted in him connecting perfectly with Lamine Camara’s in-swinger to propel Senegal to their fourth FIFA U-20 World Cup following their appearances in 2015, 2017 and 2019. In the other quarterfinal match, Nigeria qualified ahead of Uganda.
