The ongoing 13th African Games, hosted in Ghana, have enthralled viewers nationwide, highlighting the impressive skills of athletes from across the continent.

Gbcghanaonline’s photojournalist, Prince Kukorku, was on hand to capture the essence of the swimming competition through a series of captivating images.

The official opening ceremony, held on Friday, March 8 at the prestigious University of Ghana Stadium, was a vibrant affair that united athletes and sports officials from a multitude of African nations, including Ghana, South Africa, Egypt, Burundi, Nigeria, and beyond.

Since the commencement of the games, athletes representing their respective nations have delivered stellar performances across a myriad of sporting disciplines.

A defining moment came courtesy of Team Ghana’s men’s swimming captain, Abeku Jackson, who etched his name in the annals of Ghanaian sports history by putting an end to the country’s prolonged medal drought at the continental event.

Jackson’s remarkable achievements on Day 2 secured Ghana’s first-ever medal, clinching silver in the Men’s 50m Butterfly final with an impressive time of 24.23 seconds.

Undeterred by the challenges of the competition, Jackson continued to excel, adding to his accolades with a bronze in the hotly contested rescheduled Men’s 100m Butterfly final on Day 4, where he clocked in at an impressive 53.80 seconds.
