Turkish Top Tier League side Besiktas, have terminated the contract with 21-year-old Emirhan Delibas after the club discovered the player had a false age on an online dating app.

The revelation gained attention after a picture of his dating profile went viral on social media platforms, disclosing an age of 24, while his actual age is 21. The club, in a statement, announced the mutual agreement to part ways with Delibas but did not specifically indicate the reasons behind the abrupt termination.

“We have parted ways with professional football player Emirhan Delibas by mutual agreement. We wish him success in his future career,” the statement read.

The dating profile on Bumble identified Delibas as a “Professional Football Player at Besiktas JK,” seeking “something casual.” It also listed his height as 183 cm and highlighted his interests, including football, horror movies, rock music, winter sports, and dogs.

Speculations suggest that the age discrepancy, exposed by his dating app profile, may have contributed to the decision.

Although reasons for the termination of Delibas’s contract remain undisclosed and unknown, the controversy surrounding his age discrepancy has stirred discussions.

In a response to the controversy, Delibas claimed the profile was fake, rejecting the accusations through a statement on Instagram.

He emphasized his loyalty to Besiktas and expressed gratitude for the support from fans. “Besiktas is a responsibility for me. Your love has been my greatest motivation.”
