Congressmen have accepted February 19, 2022, as the start date for the upcoming Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) Division Two League.

Congress, which is the highest decision-making body of the Association accepted the date, which conforms with the directives of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for regional leagues across the country.

The upcoming season, will be played on a home-and-away basis, unlike the previous season, where Game Centers were adopted.

The league, which is the highest in the region will see all 64 Division Two League Clubs in participation for six months.

For the first time, the region would witness a Regional FA Cup, which will be played alongside the Division Two League.  Here, two finalists from the Regional FA Cup will join the two finalists from Middle League to represent the region for the MTN FA Cup.

The Regional FA will this season apply the “No Certificate, no coaching” approach, which corresponds with the GFA’s regulation on coaches for regional leagues.

It means regional clubs must have a minimum qualification of CAF/GFA Licensed D Certificate, clubs could suffer points deduction if they fail to comply.

Congress also agreed to relegate bottom teams in each zone of the four sectors (Southern A and B, Central, and Northern) in the upcoming season.

Collectively, congress has approved a GHC 170.00 officiating fee for the season, which excludes transportation.

Avatime FC, who pulled out of the ongoing league last season has also been readmitted after several consultations ahead of the upcoming season.

The Regional FA further announced the annulment of all fines incurred last season.

The highly anticipated season promises to be better as stakeholders look forward to a positive season ahead.
