The Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) has organised a day’s seminar for Division Two Clubs and stakeholders in football in the region.

The seminar, which was held at the Ho Municipal Assembly Hall in Ho, was aimed at enhancing the best practices of football to improve and develop the game in the region.

Participants who were club owners and administrative managers were taken through important topics such as sports nutrition, first aid, sports marketing, and the laws of the game.

The Chairman of the Regional Football Association, Mr. Daniel Agbogah, said the seminar intends to empower every stakeholder in the game and develop it at the grassroots level.

He added that the seminar would be frequent.

“This seminar is the second and we intend to organise it to empower and enhance the best practices of football in the Volta Region.

“The seminar has come to stay,” Mr. Agboga said.

Mr. Agbogah also took time to address issues from the first round and revealed expectations for the rest of the season.

The Ho Municipal Chief Executive, who doubles as the General Manager of Home Stars FC, Hon. Divine Richard Bosson, graced the occasion and commended the Regional FA for organising the seminar.

He pledged his unwavering support and urged the regional teams to aim high and take the branding of their clubs seriously.

A Dietician and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Priscilla Botchway, was one of the facilitators at the seminars, she took participants through sports nutrition.

She encouraged stakeholders to plan a healthy and balanced diet for their footballers because they need a lot of energy on the field.

“It is wrong for footballers not to eat, they need a lot of energy, so give them fruits and carbohydrates for energy, glucose is also needed in the body,” she said.

Mrs. Botchway also took the time to address all nutritional issues.

The Regional Manager of Ghana Red Cross Society, Mr. Gershon Dzokoto, took participants through the basic steps of first aid in preserving life and preventing injury from getting worse.

The Founder of Soccertme Africa and Chief Executive Officer of Hohoe United, Mr. Edem Ansah, enlightened participants on sports management and marketing.

He urged team owners and managers to take the branding and positioning of players seriously because they are their greatest asset and investment.

Mr. Ansah also touched on maintaining good relationships beyond the field among club owners and administrative managers.

A former Ghana Premier League Referee and member secretary of the Referees Committee of Volta FA, Mr. Shine Ayitey sensitised participants on the Laws of the Game, highlighting handball and offsides.

Over 73 clubs were in attendance and were given footballs at the end of the seminar.
