By: Akosua Adjei
Ampem Darkoa Ladies were unable to qualify for the CAF Women’s Champions League after losing 3-0 to Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens in the grande finale of the WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifier.
The Ghanaian champions were housed in Group B alongside Bayelsa Queens, USFA, and Athleta. The Nanamma managed 2 wins and a draw against USFA, Athleta and Bayelsa Queens respectively.
Having progressed to the semi finals, Ampem Darkoa slugged it out with Af Sports. In a keenly contested match, the Techiman based team left it late as Captain Justice Tweneboah’s final penalty kick sealed the deal for the Ghanaians after the match ended one all.

In their quest to grab a slot for the second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, they were billed for the final showdown against Bayelsa Queens. Try as they may, Ampem Darkoa could not outclass the Nigerian Champions hence succumbing to a 3-0 defeat.
Bayelsa Queens will therefore represent WAFU Zone B in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, Ampem Darkoa have arrived in Ghana to start preparation for the 2022-2023 Ghana Women’s Premier League.
