Former Hearts of Oak star Don Bortey wants to coach Asante Kotoko because he believes he can end the Porcupine Warriors’ African title drought.

It’s been 37 years since Kotoko won a continental title. They last won in 1983 and have since lost two finals.

Their first final defeat was against Zamalek in 1993, 11 years later they were beaten by arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in Confederation Cup. Don Bortey was part of Hearts’ squad.

Kotoko’s CAF Continental trophy droughts can be solved by me if I become a coach. I am ever ready to coach Kotoko and I can win Africa for Kotoko”, the former Accra Hearts of Oak forward told Hot FM.

Don Bortey continued, “Kotoko has a good strong squad for Ghana premier league but they have to buy players outside ghana to blend the players for them to able to succeed in Africa”.

He currently holds the CAF License C Certificate which is enough to manage the Techiman-based Division Two side, Gold Stars.
