The Ghana Football Association, in partnership with FIFA, will train 30 female coaches through a CAF Licence C course under the FIFA Women’s Development Programme.

The initiative aims to expand the pool of qualified female coaches in Ghana while creating clearer pathways for women to build careers in coaching.

The programme will run in two modules, with the first scheduled from May 18 to May 27, 2026, followed by an internship from June 1 to June 30. The second module will take place from July 6 to July 15, with a final internship phase from July 18 to August 16.Sessions will be held at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Prampram.Eligibility is open to women actively involved in football who demonstrate a commitment to developing the women’s game and a willingness to share knowledge through coaching.

GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo said the course supports the association’s push to strengthen women’s football through technical development.

The scholarship-based programme is also designed to reduce financial barriers to coaching and encourage more women in the game to pursue professional qualifications.

According to GFA Women’s Football Development Manager Jennifer Amankwaa Sarpong, increasing the number of female coaches is key to broadening representation and providing role models for young girls entering the sport.

The programme forms part of FIFA’s broader effort to develop and empower women in football through education and structured career opportunities.
