Kotoko beats Hearts of Oak to win the 2019 President ‘s Cup

Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Sunday defeated archrivals, Accra Hearts of Oak by two goals to one in the 2019 President’s Cup at the Baba Yaro Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Hearts got the opener in the 38th minute of the first half via a penalty as Empem Dacosta is judged to have handled the ball in a tackle on Hearts Kofi Kordji, who converted the spot kick.

Asante Kotoko got the equalizer through an own goal by Hearts defender Mohammed Alhassan. Kotoko’s Naby Keita put his side ahead 2-1, consigning Hearts to another President’s Cup defeat.

The game set the tone for Kotoko’s new coach Maxwell Konadu and Hearts of Oak’s Kim Grant to shape their squads ahead of the new Premier League season which kicks off on the 28th of this month.
